Some pc seller like Packard Bell used to hold a folder where you could type something resembling pcfix to restore your pc to it's ingenious state but these days they don't. With System Restore division of WIndows XP it's redundant. If you run XP and System Restore is activated AND you can at lowest boot into safe mode you can restore your setup. If not Contact the businesswoman Dell, HP whoever and ask what it takes to gain a restore cd. They may send you one.
You can other buy a copy of XP and start from scratch.
