is the video memory chipsets for laptops and desktop computers indistinguishable?

if no pls. specify a video chipset for laptop

Answer:

NO.

Same manufacturer .... but the GPU's are not the same as on desktop PC products.

They are designed to use smaller number power, generate less boil, & have a lower profile.... same principal as the CPUs made by AMD or Intel.

ATI, for example, make a whole strip of mobile chpisets designed exclusively for laptop PCs & never used on desktop PC graphic adapters. :

absolutley not, its not same
That would depend on what video you have on your laptop. With alot of laptops the graphics proccessing section shares memory with the system memory, strike. More high proformance laptops will enjoy dedicated memory for the video system. nowa days, surrounded by either shield its using DDR, double data rate strike. there are other types, ddr is the most adjectives.

The chipset is a separate component from the ram chips.
no
